ProjectGift Box Action

Through the Gift Box Action project ACP distributes presents to adult and children every year, between December and January. Those boxes contain basic necessities, teaching material, food, healthcare items and toys. The distribution is supported by associations and ACP partners while volunteers take care of the packaging.

Current situations and future challenges

In some Italian areas, the unemployment rates are hitting 23% mark, while 40,1% of are young people are out of work (2016 ISTAT data). ISTAT has recently estimated that 4.742.000 people are living in absolute poverty. A material poverty often leads to a spiritual and moral poverty of the person, who ends up in a state of isolation. For those people being part of society becomes always harder. Challenges are copious and huge. ACP can't tackle them all, but decided to take action and give a contribution, upholding rooted local organizations.

Our concrete commitment

We coordinate volunteer groups which collect goods in different cities. From January to September we work on boxes decorations and food drives. In October and November we start the packaging process in Turin's ACP headquarter. In December the distribution begins in several cities. ACP does its best to satisfy specific needs expressed by local partners and associations.

Goals

At Christmas, marginalised people deeply feel the burden of their condition. We want to soothe that feeling.
We want to involve leisure clubs, cooperatives and institutes to wrap and decorate the boxes. We work to expand collections in supermarkets and raise awareness of companies so that they could donate goods. Our ambition is to create 5000 gift box a year.
